I have to tell you – I had no idea actually being on the floor would make a difference. We talk so much about how you can see things on television…..and those of you who’ve known me for awhile know how much I have adored politics since I was a kid. It was all that I wanted it to be and more.
Coming Out
I generally keep where I grew up low key, since I was raised in Hillsborough. The first election I followed closely was Carter/Reagan in 1980 at the ripe age of 9. Of course, Ted Kennedy inspired me, but I loved jimmy Carter. And being in Hillsborough, I was the lone Democrat in my entire third grade class. Everyone teased me for hours on end about how Carter was going to lose. And I still had hope, and of course we were let down. So when they paid tribute to Carter last night, I thought about how different our country would be, particularly as it relates to energy, had we only listened to him. Here is a video of Carter’s appearance:

Perceptions
Everyone knows Michelle Obama scored the game winning three point shot when it comes to basketball, the grand slam in baseball, and the touchdown in football.
I knew she would. I saw her at the Oprah rally in Los Angeles and knew she had what it takes to be First Lady.
I really think the Hillary issue will begin to dissipate after tonight. Many Hillary supporters came up to me after the speech and were extraordinarily complimentary.
Here were some other important highlights:
- Watch Senator Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota. She’s one of the speeches people actually listened to (besides Michelle Obama, Ted Kennedy, and Nancy Pelosi of course). Special shout out to Ted Kennedy for mentioning our community in his speech.
- The personal testimonials from everyday Americans who spoke. Real working families, single moms and more explained why Obama is the right choice for America.
I had some all star time of course. Senator Barbara Boxer and her husband, Representatives George Miller & Anna Eshoo sat behind me. Here is a selection of pictures, the first being Representative George Miller and myself:
Some of you may have seen a Recorder piece were I was one of the up and coming lawyers named with some very important people, like Gloria Allred. Click on the Flickr link above to see other shots of interest.
