So I decided to take the 6am flight from Oakland to Denver. That was a good thing and a bad thing. Of course, I had to get up in the middle of the night (as did Julia to drive me), however, there were no lines, a fairly empty flight and a great trip. I recognized some faces of folks, no one in particular. I was pretty obvious as a delegate because I was wearing a snazzy Obama 08 shirt made by a friend of Sunny Schwartz’s – check this out for some cool designs. You’ll see some of the shirts later on in the week.
After enjoying breakfast with my old college buddy Marla and her husband Sal, and feeling good about our Party’s chances of taking Colorado this Fall, I was dropped off at the Sheraton which was all buzz. Biden was the right choice, What parties did you get into. How was the Stonewall Convention. What are you doing tonight. What are you doing right now.
I registered for the Convention, picked up my giftbags from the DNCC and the CDP, begged for more tickets for Thursday’s speech, and went to my room. Everyone’s talking about the Vanity Fair/Google Party, personally I think the speech tickets are harder to find. That’s probably because I have a ticket to the Vanity Fair/Google Party though…..and I’m still tracking down tickets for friends to go to INVESCO Field.
The goody bags are interesting. When I received them, I was told the national bag left something to be desired (and I agree) and the state bag had the ‘it’ factor (and I agree).
Some interesting tidbits:
National bag has a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese commemorative box.

How American. Other items of interest were post it’s with John F. Kennedy quotes, pedometers, a ring tone gift card from A T & T…….check out my flickr account for more pics
The State bag raises the level of speculation on all the state offices for 2010. Some of my favorites (not endorsements, just saying!) Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s bobble head:

Lieutenant Governor Garamendi ‘s State of California wine glass. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (and we hope she’s recovering well) trademark flower painting on a coffee mug

Senator Dean Florez is running for lieutenant governor, and is capitalizing on Obama’s popularity….

Senator Dean Florez
That’s it for now. Looks like I’m going to the California Delegation Welcome Party and an African American Committee 2000 and Beyond event, and i’ll try to go by the DNC welcome reception…..
