Thank you to all of our friends and neighbors who came together at our campaign kickoff last Saturday. Seeing all of you reminds me what this campaign is about and why we call San Francisco our home.
For many of us San Francisco is a safe haven – a place for diverse opinions and lifestyles where all can come and feel accepted.
As we enter the weeks of Pride celebration, I think about what the LGBT community and our allies have accomplished and how much more we have left to do. We stand on the shoulders of pioneers like Phyllis Lyon, who has been at the forefront of the LGBT movement for more than 50 years.
As your Supervisor, I will ensure that our message of equality is heard and acted upon. I will:
- Build on the San Francisco tradition of honoring diversity and fighting injustice.
- Work to protect LGBT youth.
- Help LGBT and all families thrive in this economy.
- Fight for Equal Rights on the federal and state level.

My advocacy and work for LGBT equality will continue to provide a safe and healthy environment for all.
Although we face economic and institutional challenges, we can succeed. Together there is nothing we can’t accomplish, even assuring that EQUAL MEANS EQUAL.
Together we can,
