Thanks to you, our campaign has reached two major milestones. Over the last seven weeks, you worked the farmers markets, stood outside small businesses, attended events, dropped by dog parks, and knocked on doors to collect signatures to place my name on the ballot.
Today, I couldn’t be more proud. Together we have collected over 3100 signatures – well surpassing the 1,000 required by the Department of Elections.
When we first embarked on this campaign, we knew this would be a hard fought election requiring an organized field campaign and a well-funded operation.
Many of you have organized house parties, held fundraisers, and generously donated to my campaign. Because of your hard work and our network of nearly 600 donors, we became the first campaign in the District 8 race to reach the $100,000 fundraising milestone.
The sheer number of signatures and the level of fundraising demonstrate our ability to organize. Now it’s time to ramp up our field operation. This election will be won by reaching out to our neighbors block by block.
People are joining our campaign because they want a Supervisor who will leave politics at the door and do what is necessary to fix city issues. Our campaign offers the independent common sense approach needed to address our city’s most pressing issues – a reliable MUNI, safe and clean streets, good schools and affordable housing.
Over the next week, we will be ramping up our field campaign with precinct walking and phone banking. We will win because of the work you are doing, and I hope you’ll consider giving more of your time.
